Where are you going?
I’m asked this question so often that it’s almost expected, yet there are times when it becomes overwhelming. I feel like I’m obligated to have an answer. My spontaneity is confusing to some, and my refusal to be tied down can be frustrating to others. But the stress of meticulously planning can sometimes take away from the freedom of living–the things I’ll do, the places I’ll go, the people I’ll meet, and the peace of mind I hold on to.
Plus, no matter how much I obsess over details, something will inevitably go wrong. So I’ve learned how to live at my own pace; to move through the ups and downs of life without a plan.
I’m not reckless by any means and thrive with boundaries and structure. But I’ve learned that being a good person and treating others with kindness is what truly matters. I don’t worry too much about will happen tomorrow or next year. I just focus on showing up and being present in the moment. It’s a great feeling, being at peace with myself and the world around me. I think that’s all anyone can really ask for.
