Invest in Yourself—You Are Worthy

I’m talking about something that might sound crazy, but it’s true. A while back, I spent six whole months in therapy just to work up the courage to buy a new bra for myself. Yes, you read that right – six months. It’s pretty wild when you think about it.

Looking back, it seems crazy that I even thought that way. But back then, it was a really tough time for me. My main focus was on making sure my family had everything they needed, and I didn’t think about what I wanted or needed. I felt like I wasn’t important enough for them to make any sacrifices for me, and that’s a hard feeling to deal with. It’s like I was putting everyone else first and forgetting about myself. I didn’t feel worthy of being a priority, and that was a difficult thing to go through.

I used to think I didn’t deserve the good things in life, but now I know that’s not true. I’ve realized I’m worth it, no matter what. It’s okay to treat myself to something special, like a trip to South America, or something small, like a chocolate bar from CVS. Even taking an hour to watch Netflix in my room is a way of taking care of myself. When I know my worth, I want to do things that make me happy and bring out the best in me. It’s all about investing in myself and making sure I’m living my best life.

When I’m feeling good and taking care of myself, my kids seem to do really well too. If there’s something I want, they’re always telling me to go ahead and get it. And when I want to go out or do something, they’re like, “just go, mom, you deserve it.” They’ll even say things like, “you do so much for us, it’s okay to do something for yourself,” which is really sweet. It’s like they understand that if I’m happy and healthy, everyone benefits.

I take care of myself, not because I’ve done something to deserve it, but simply because I’m important. I’m worthy of love and care, and that’s all that matters.
