He said “I miss you” in a text message. Don’t do that. You don’t get to do that. I realize the innocence in saying it, but it’s still a play on my emotions. Have I thought about him today? Sure. There’s normally a good morning/how are you and the kids text every day. I don’t want to have a conversation, but I was looking forward to that text. Crazy, I know.
There was a moment in time yesterday when I felt a little stalkerish. I let it pass. I was just wondering what the future love of his life would be like. Were there any hints or telltale signs hidden somewhere that would give insight into what that future temptation would look like. I imagine her being fair/white skinned, a little taller than me, fit/in-shape, drives a nice car (not luxury), her closet is full of button up shirts, heels, and a few blazers. She has a little black dress for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She has a modest income (no more than $100k), substantial student loans, a car note, and two credit cards. She sympathizes with his situation—having a wife and three kids who’ve drained him and his financial and future planning. She has a 3, 5, and 10 year plan.
They eat at fine restaurants once per week and have casual date night every Wed or Thurs. She has no kids (obviously) and a great relationship with her family. Her parents were professionals who have a great retirement and travel frequently. She’s seen the world. She’s adventurous. She shares her experiences and takes him to places he’s never been. She’s very direct yet compromises and comforts at the right times. She loves his ideas and jumps at every opportunity to turn his visions into reality. She’s intellectual and has wisdom about the world around them. Sexy. Sophisticated. Successful.
She’s everything I’m not. And when she shows up in our lives, it will be hard to miss. He’ll be caught off guard and I’ll know it when I see it.
